Making nanoparticles in Blender

Today I made some nanoparticles in Blender. I used the node compositor to create the fluorophore effect. Making science in Blender is fun!

  1. Very well done! Did you make these in a similar manner as this virus tutorial? http://cgcookie.com/blender/2010/08/24/microscopic-virus-effect/

  4. Hi! This image looks great. I am struggling to make a 3D functionalized nanoparticle. Is there a tutorial for this?

  5. It's been a while so the features may not be exactly the same, but I used the particle/hair tools for the nanoparticles. Check out tutorials on making grass in Blender and adapt for your work.

  6. hi there, i would like to do a porous nanoparticle with discoidal shapes, and pores only going vertically. any tutorials you'd recommend?

  7. Try the deformation transform tools in Blender. I'm not sure about the pores. Try to think of a "video-game" analogue (maybe craters?) and search for tutorials on that.
